NEA Big Read

Join the GCLS community in reading The Great Gatsby and participating in programs and activities to take part in the NEA Big Read!

What is the NEA Big Read?

NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest that offers grants to support innovative literacy and community programs. The NEA Big Read broadens our understanding of our world, our communities, and ourselves through the joy of sharing a good book.

What is our NEA Big Read Title?

GCLS has chosen “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald as our NEA Big Read title. Our branch libraries will host book discussions, author talks, music programs and more throughout the month of April 2017.  They will also host children’s programs and events that relate to “The Great Gatsby,” so readers of all ages can join in the fun.

Who can attend the programs?

All NEA Big Read programs are free and open to the public. We hope you will join us as we celebrate the Roaring 20’s while reading the quintessential American novel, “The Great Gatsby.”
