What is the MakerStudio@Logan?

The MakerStudio is the designated makerspace area in the Logan Branch supplied with tools and equipment ranging from the very basic to the latest cutting-edge technology in which people of all ages can gather to learn, socialize, experiment and create. The space is geared towards ages 13 through adults.

How can I use the MakerStudio@Logan? 

To use the MakerStudio, all Makers must:

  • complete a Maker Agreement form
  • verify his/her identity with valid library card or photo ID
  • All in-county Makers must have a valid library card from a LOGIN consortium member library. Out of county residents must present proper photo ID. 

Are you interested in using the 3D Printer, vinyl cutter, or serger machine? To use these, you must:

  • Participate in mandatory safety training
  • Certification must be completed before they can be used
  • Certification training is scheduled by appointment only. Contact us via email at make@gcls.org to schedule an appointment.

Are you certified for the 3D printer and want to reserve time to use it? Check our online calendar for availability or contact us via email at make@gcls.org to reserve your time.

Does it cost anything to use the MakerStudio@Logan?

Need equipment list! Update pricing as needed: Admission is free, however certain materials have a nominal cost as outlined below:

3D prints:

Standard colors: $0.35 per 15 minutes, rounded up. (For example, a 20 minute print will cost $0.70.)

Special colors: $0.75 per 15 minutes, rounded up.

Adhesive Vinyl: 

$0.10 per linear inch (x 12″ or 15″ wide) – rounded up to the nearest inch.

Buttons:

$0.10 for 1″

$0.25 for 2.25″

One FREE everyday! (Not transferable to another person.)

Photo quality paper prints:

$0.25 for 4″x6″

$0.75 for 8.5″x11″

CDs and DVDs:

$0.50 ea.

Large Format Poster Paper (up to 36″ wide): 

B&W:

Matte: $0.10 per inch

Glossy: $0.15 per inch

Color:

Matte: $0.20 per inch

Glossy: $0.30 per inch

Canvas:

Color or B&W: $0.75 per inch

GCLS will provide a safe and accessible space where anyone in the community can interact, understand, and create using the technologies available in the space. Our goal is to foster creative-thinking in the young and old alike and encourage community-based innovation and entrepreneurship in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mechanics (STEAM). 

Establishing a Makerspace supports the GCLS mission, which is to provide welcoming community spaces where people gather to learn, create, and have fun.
