What is the DesignStudio and what can I do in it?

The Gloucester County Library System excited to announce the new DesignStudio@GCLS which is our latest makerspace! It features a bunch of new creative software programs and new hardware to bring your creative ideas to life. In the DesignStudio, you will be able to do:

  • 3D animation
  • Stop-motion animation
  • Music mixing
  • Video editing
  • Video game creation
  • ...and more!

Where is the DesignStudio located?

The DesignStudio is located at the Mullica Hill Library.

What are the hours for the DesignStudio?

The DesignStudio is open during all regular library hours which is typically Monday-Thursday 10am-9pm, Friday and Saturday 10am-5pm, and Sunday 1pm-5pm. Saturdays Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day: 10am-2pm. Sundays Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day: Closed.

Who can use the DesignStudio?

Everyone is welcome to use the DesignStudio hardware and software.

What kind of hardware does the DesignStudio have?

The DesignStudio has the following:

The DesignStudio has the following:

  • iMovie (only available on the iMac)

Are there guides to help me get started making things in the DesignStudio?

Yes, we have an entire research guide dedicated to tutotials and help videos and you can also check out a variety of quick start guides:

Is there someone who can sit down with me and show me how to use a particular software one-on-one?

Yes, you can schedule a one-time librarian by appointment for assistance in learning how to use a particular software. These sessions last for up to one hour and give you time to sit with a staff member who has a strong background in what you are trying to learn. How do I borrow a drawing tablet, headphones, or the camera?

All accessories for the DesignStudio can be checked out from the MakerStudio. Let the staff member know what you'd like to borrow and you can sign it out using the sign out sheet.

Can I reserve a specific DesignStudio computer in advance for a certain day/time?

Yes, you can. Visit or call the reference desk at 856-223-6050 to reserve a specific DesignStudio computer in advance.
