The Gloucester County Library System also offers services to customers "on the go" through the use of specially formatted web pages, RSS feeds, text messaging (SMS), and Library Elf. Library users can access this information anytime and anywhere using their mobile device.
Mobile Website
The GCLS website automatically redirects users to pages that have been formatted for mobile devices. PDA users will normally see a stripped down version of the site formatted for smaller screens.
Many mobile phones have a WAP browser built in to allow viewing of websites specially formatted for very small mobile phone screens. If you are using the WAP browser on your phone, you will be redirected to the mobile version of the site. The GCLS WAP site can also be accessed via http://www.gcls.org/wml.
Your mobile website experience may vary due to differences in the way browser programs display sites.
Also, your service provider might charge you for mobile access to the Internet. Cost is contingent upon your phone plan and wireless service provider.
RSS Feeds
You can subscribe to our RSS feeds using software on your mobile device. When we update the feeds, your device will be able to receive the new information. We offer RSS feeds for GCLS News Items, New Materials List, and Upcoming GCLS Events.
Text Messaging (SMS)
Please note that GCLS does not charge for SMS services, but standard text messaging rates may be applied by your service provider. Cost is contingent upon your phone plan and wireless service provider.
The Mullica Hill Branch Reference Department can be contacted by sending a text message to reference@gcls.org. Please be aware that text messages have a 160 character limit and are only suitable for short, simple questions. A Reference Librarian will respond via return message as time permits during normal business hours. Please keep in mind that your ability to contact the Reference Staff via email might be limited by your service provider.
Library Elf
Library Elf can be configured to automatically send you text message alerts of available holds and overdue materials. See our Library Elf page for more information.
