The East Greenwich Public Works Department is responsible for the construction, maintenance and operation of our township's streets, landscaping and other publicly owned facilities. In addition, the Public Works Manager supervises the Highway and Public Works employees--who ensure that streets and other public right-of-ways are properly and regularly maintained and repaired when necessary.

Other Public Works Department duties include:

• Processing developers' requests
• Maintaining traffic signals
• Designing and constructing public improvements, such as bicycle paths, storm drains and landscaped street medians.

Clerk's Hours: 9 am to 4 pm, Monday to Thursday. Closed 12 noon to 1 pm for lunch daily.

NEW WATER RESTRICTIONS - IN EFFECT starting July 2008 and continuing until further notice.

Effective immediately, the township changed watering restrictions according to the Township Water Conservation Ordinance, sect. 16.49.020. This applies to all East Greenwich residents, regardless of whether they have township water, any water company, or private wells. These restrictions are year-round.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, the Township temporarily changed watering restrictions because of a WATER EMERGENCY. We will return to previous restrictions when specified in the future.


--LAWN/VEGEATION WATERING WITH SPRINKERS IS *NOT* PERMITTED AT ANY TIME IN THE MORNING.

If you have an even house number, you may water your law or other vegeation on even calendar dates between 7 and 10 PM only. If you have an odd house number, you may water on odd dates between 7 and 10 PM only.

CAR/VEHICLE WASHING is *NOT* permitted at any time.

These restrictions are being enacted because of a lack of water pressure and volume caused by well-pumping limitations imposed by the NJ Dept. of Environmental Protection.

The following regulations also remain:

-- PLANT WATERING: you may water your plants at any time with a hand-held hose or bucket.

-- NEW SEED/SOD: Newly sodded or seeded lawns may be watered every day for 14 days without the odd/even water restriction, during permitted hours only, but you must first contact the Public Works Department (856-423-0655) before you begin water.
