WHO?

Licenses are required for any dog in East Greenwich Township that meets the following criteria:

•  Either 7 months of age or has permanent teeth and,
•  Is kept for more than 10 days
  
  Note: any dog brought into East Greenwich from another state or municipality that meets the above criteria must be re-licensed, even if the dog had been previously licensed by another entity.
  
  *IMPORTANT* - Dog licenses are RENEWED EVERY JANUARY, and are considered LATE on March 1st of each year (see fees and late fees listed below).

WHY?
Protection for your dog: Any lost dog wearing a license can be returned to its owner through the Police Department, Township Clerk or the Gloucester County Animal Shelter.

Protection for you: All dogs must be up to date on their rabies inoculations in order to be licensed, which in turn will protect you and your family from rabies exposure.

WHERE?
Licenses may be obtained at the clerk’s office in the municipal building weekdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. [The municipal building is located at 159 Democrat Road in Mickleton NJ]

Licenses may also be obtained by mail or by placing the below listed items in the "drop box" at the left side of the front door of the municipal building. Our mailing address is: East Greenwich Twp., 159 Democrat Road, Mickleton, NJ 08056 Attn: Dog License Clerk.

Whether using mail or the drop box, please enclose the following (All information will be returned)

• Self-addressed stamped envelope
• Copy of rabies certificate valid through October of the current year
• Copy of spay/neuter information
• Name, color, breed and age of dog
• Your telephone number
• Appropriate fees
  

HOW MUCH?
$ 7.20 for spayed/ neutered dogs
$10.20 for non-spayed/ non-neutered dogs
$ 5.00 late fee assessed after March 1st
$41.00 fine per dog if summoned by police for failure to license

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - DOG CENSUS

A dog census required by the State of New Jersey is conducted biennially in East Greenwich Township. At that time, census takers with identification (a township Peddler's License) will be going door to door to obtain up to date dog counts. The next census will be conducted in July and August of 2007.
